Did you know….?
That all American Freedom Global staff raise their own salaries? This includes those in Kenya and the U.S. The process of raising a full salary (including funds for travel to and from Kenya, health insurance, rent, utilities, food, etc) is different for each person. However, I can say with confidence that each staff member has learned a lot about themselves, humility, and God’s provision through the process.
Going to people and asking them for money is not an easy thing to do, even when you really believe in the cause and reasoning behind it. It goes against deeply ingrained American values of independence and working hard for your income (at least in my opinion). Yet it is a VERY necessary, essential, part of raising your own salary. Even with a great church supporting you and a generous family, you are going to have to ask others, possibly even people you barely know, to support you.
However, as hard as it is, it is also very rewarding, The people who join your support team become just that, a team. They allow us to work with amazing people in Kenya and our often some of our biggest cheerleaders. I am personally grateful for each and every person who has joined my team.
The great thing in all of this is God does provide, and often in very unexpected ways. Philippians 4:19 says “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” God does provide; in His time, in His ways, with His purposes.
